Barking and Dagenham Council Leader Councillor Darren Rodwell has openly has expressed his anger following the recent HMICFRS on the Stephen Port murders.

Councillor Rodwell has spoken on how the Barking community feel let down and betrayed by the Met Police over the deaths of four young men-Anthony Walgate,Gabriel Kovar, Daniel Whitworth and Jack Taylor.

The recent HMICFRS report stated that the Met police’s failure to stop the Stephen Port murders could happen again and has made twenty recommendations.

Councillor Rodwell said: “We will not stand by and see the Metropolitan Police Force failing to meet our expectations when my residents, and people living across the capital, deserve so much more.”

Councillor Rodwell, who is a much respected Council Leader across east London, has now called on the Met to work more closely with London boroughs to understand their requirements better.

In an interview with the Havering Daily, Councillor Rodwell speaks openly about his views on the Stephen Port murders and the work that now needs to be done.
