Havering residents have overwhelmingly shown their support to Havering businesses by voting in their thousands for the finalists in this year’s Small Business Awards.

The Council received over 4,200 nominations throughout the two-week nomination period, with more than 430 individual small businesses put forward for awards. The final round, has now closed (Wednesday 29 March), and saw over 19,116 votes for our three finalists in each of the nine categories.

Votes are now in the process of being counted. The businesses with the most votes in each of the categories will be crowned at a celebratory event later in the spring, at the Premiere Cinema in Romford, hosted by media partner Time 107.5 FM’s Mark Dover.

A special award, ‘The Havering Small Business of the Year Award’, will be chosen from the category winners by a panel of judges including the Council and event sponsors.

Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, said:

“I am delighted by the response to the awards and want to thank everyone that took the time to nominate and vote for their favourite Havering businesses.

“These awards reflect the positive role that all our businesses play in shaping, improving and supporting our borough’s bright future.

“I am particularly pleased to see such a wide range of businesses in the borough and I’m looking forward to congratulating our finalists and winners at the awards event in May.”

Julie Frost, Director of the Romford Business Improvement District, main sponsor again this year for the awards, said:

“The response has been incredible – there is so much support in our community for small businesses to succeed. Romford has some especially innovative, exciting, and evolving small businesses so it’s wonderful to see them get the attention they so deserve. I can’t wait to find out who the winners are in May!”
