A volunteer at Queen’s hospital is asking keen knitters and crocheters to help make as many ‘twiddle muffs’ for elderly dementia patients at the two local hospitals.

Linda from Romford, volunteers at Queen’s hospital weekly and has seen how these twiddle muffs help patients there who suffer with dementia.

Linda told the Havering Daily: “Often elderly dementia patients become restless and do not know what to do with their hands, so these muffs are helpful for them to keep their fingers occupied and help them keep their mind occupied as well.

“We are looking for any knitting groups or keen knitters who would help us make as many of these twiddle muffs as possible.”

If you would like to help elderly patients at Queen’s and King George hospital, please email us at newsdesk@thehaveringdaily.co.uk and we will put you in contact with Linda.
