Help Save our skate Park!

ROM skate park in South Hornchurch is not only a vibrant, community area full of sport, friendships and community events, but also a grade 2 listed heritage site that is now under threat.

The skate park has been hit with a £24,000 electric bill that could possibly see the area closed and redeveloped into more flats.

The skatepark has been active for over 40 years and is actually the only grade 2 listed skate park in the country. Hundreds of locals use the area everyday and it provides many activities that are important for locals. The area hosts music lessons each week, skate board and BMX lessons and is known for being a cultural icon that is well respected by skate boarders all over the world.

The park is now hosting two fundraising events, the first on 27 May a skateboard and jam and the second on 17 June that will be a BMX jam.

The skatepark is also famous for featuring in the film ROM BOYS ’40 Years Of Rad Movie’.

This is a much loved skateboarding park that is very popular in the community. If the park is forced to close, Havering will lose another community space that is used by hundreds everyday.
