‘Every time we remove another knife off the streets my officers are saving a life’-East Area Commander Chief Supt Stuart Bell.
Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell, East Area Commander is an extremely dedicated police officer who is working continuously to keep all three east London boroughs as safe as he can.
Following the recent spate of stabbings across Havering and Barking and Dagenham, Mr Bell has worked tirelessly with his officers to do everything they can to not only prevent another stabbing, but also tackle those who are intent on causing violence on our streets.
Mr Bell told the Havering Daily:”We are combining prevention alongside robust policing not only to prevent knife crime, but also tackling those who are planning on causing violence on our streets.
“We have been working with our partners across all schools, increasing our levels of intelligence led stop and search and have increased the number of officers across the town centres to deter crime.
“We have been recovering a large number of knives across different parts of Havering. We saw officers on Wednesday recover a stash of weapons including a Samurai sword and machete that had been stashed away in Elm Park. These were obviously hidden away to later use in a fight and possibly kill someone.
“Everytime my officers remove these weapons off our street, a life is saved.
“We are also targeting known individuals and really hitting back at those who are intent on bringing violence to our streets. But it is important that we keep winning this battle and to do that we need the public’s support. If they have any information, it is vital that they please let us know by either contacting us or Crimestoppers anonymously.”
Neighbourhood policing is also being strengthened as Mr Bell continues: “In April a new Neighbourhood Superintendent will start here in East Area that will really help improve neighbourhood policing. We really are dedicated to improving our community policing side.
“Tackling knife crime has been a community wide approach that has seen my officers go into school to do vital prevention work with our partners, undertake proactive work on the streets being a visible deterrent and of course engaging in robust policing tackling those known for bringing violence to our streets.”
Chief Superintendent Bell is a very dedicated leader who is a much respected by his officers. He openly supports his officers and the incredible work they do on a daily basis across Havering, Barking and Dagenham and Redbridge.
There are thousand of police officers who do such a vital job in our community. Their work is life saving and they undertake the hardest jobs possible in our communities facing the toughest challenges.
Despite the brutal cuts in funding they have faced, our officers are out on the streets everyday not only supporting our community, but putting their own lives at risk to save ours.
