On Sunday 5 March the newly formed Rm13 Wombles held their first litter pick across the Wennington Village area. The group was formed by Rainham Ward Councillor Jackie McArdle who works tirelessly to make her community as best as it can be.

Despite the freezing temperatures there were 11 volunteers who came out and collected 11 bags of rubbish from the roadside and gravel car park.

Councillor McArdle told the Havering Daily: “In an hour and a half we managed to clear from the A1306 down to just past Laundry Cottages.
“We had help from The Harold Hill Wombles and Havering Green Streets. Also a friend and ex colleague Steve came along to help as he saw it advertised on social media.
“I couldn’t be happier with our first meeting, hopefully we can build from here with our next meeting on Sunday April 2nd where we will be joined by Rainham 3rd Scout Group.
“In the meantime I urged all residents to download the ” Love Clean Streets App” where you can instantly send photos along with the location of rubbish direct to LBH for removal the following day.”

Havering Council’s Love Clean Streets app encourages local residents to send pictures and locations of where rubbish is being left, so that the council can come and remove it.
