Residents from Havering came together yesterday, Sunday 5 March, outside a shop on Corbets Tey Road where the RSPCA removed a dog that was believed to have been locked in a cupboard whilst the owners went away for a month.

Shop workers next to the premises, heard the poor dog barking and contacted the police and RSPCA who came and removed the dog.

Yesterday, between 50 to 100 people and their dogs gathered outside the shop to protest against animal abuse, holding placards and voicing their anger at the shop owners.

Event organiser Kirstie told the Havering Daily:”Animal abuse has no place in our community. This is a peaceful protest, we have come here today with our dogs to let the owners know that we do not want this in our community. Dogs are part of our families, not there to be abused.”

Shocking images of animal abuse were on show outside the shop, taken from facebook profiles linked to the shop owners.

Well done to everyone who came to make their voice heard and fight any form of animal abuse.

The dog rescued is being cared for now and this is an ongoing investigation by the RSPCA.
