Bereaved mum and anti knife crime campaigner Sue Hedges donated a life saving bleed kit to the New City College Rainham Campus last week. Sue donated the Daniel Baird bleed bag on behalf of the Ricky Hayden Memorial on Monday 20 February.

It was Sue’s bleed bag that was used to save a student’s life last week by staff, after he was stabbed on his way to college.

Sue has made it her mission to hand as many of these life saving bleed kits across the community as she possibly can.

Sue told the Havering Daily:

“They are vital life saving tools that are sadly needed in our communities. It is important that we place as many of these kits as possible across as many venues as we can, incase they are needed.

“Sadly as we can see knife crime is not only not going away, but getting worse and worse each day.

“Thank you to the Rainham Campus for accepting this bleed bag. We all hope that it will never have to be used but it will be in the premises just in case.”

The Daniel Baird bleed bags are London Ambulance approved and vital life saving tools.

Nikki Warren Safeguarding Officer, Mick Nickless Security Team Leader, Sue Hedges from the Ricky Hayden Memorial and Ian Rist Senior Curriculum Manager.
