Road User Charging in Havering – Residents left in the dark.
A Havering resident is concerned about the introduction of the ‘Road User Charging’ across the borough.
Biddy Baker from Rainham told the Havering Daily: “As a resident of Havering, I am deeply disappointed to hear that our local GLA Member, Keith Prince, has not been promoting the potential introduction of variable or distance-based smarter road user charging. This is despite the fact that it will affect everyone in the borough.
The potential introduction of smarter road user charging would be a significant change in how daily transport is paid for in London.
Mrs Baker continued: “As someone who relies on their car to commute to work and travel around the city, I am deeply concerned about the impact this change could have on my daily life.
“While I understand that the introduction of smarter road user charging is being considered as a way to reduce congestion, improve air quality and encourage the use of public transport and active travel options, I believe it is crucial for residents to have their say on this potential change.
“It is disappointing to hear that our local representatives have not taken responsibility for informing residents about this issue. It is crucial that everyone in the borough is aware of the potential introduction of smarter road user charging and has the opportunity to have their say on this important issue.
“I urge Keith Prince and other local representatives to take responsibility and ensure that all residents are informed about the potential introduction of smarter road user charging. We have the right to be informed about changes that will have a significant impact on our daily lives and our finances.”

Pingback:‘The key battle at the moment is to stop Sadiq Khan’s ULEZ expansion’-Keith Prince AM. – The Havering Daily
The Tories are simply playing politics here. The first expansion of ULEZ to include north and south circular roads had the agreement of Grant Shapps as Secretary of State – see the 31st Oct letter from Dept of Transport to the Mayor, para 13. section h, setting out that the Mayor ‘Maintains commitment to the decision.. to create a single larger ULEZ’. There have been no changes of Government policy that I know of – so why are local Tory MPs and councillors kicking up a fuss?
