Sixty firefighters tackle blaze at an industrial unit in Collier Row.
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled a fire at an industrial unit on Clockhouse Lane, Collier Row yesterday afternoon.
A single-storey vehicle workshop was destroyed by fire and part of a second workshop was also damaged by the blaze. One man left the building before crews arrived and was treated on scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.
One gas cylinder was removed by firefighters and cooled as a precaution, as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
The Brigade was called at 17:42 and the fire was under control by 20:15.
Fire crews from Romford, Harold Hill, Hainault, Dagenham and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
