Residents left to look at monstrous new build from the back of their garden.
In June 2021 work began on the proposed new builds in Hornchurch. The joint venture between Havering Council and Wates started to be built at the back of Harrow Lodge park in Hornchurch.
Residents living on Bethany Close have found themselves with a ‘monstrous’ build literally at the end of their garden.
Paul who lives on Bethany Close told the Havering Daily: “We have been told that the building should be 19 and a half metres away from our properties. We don’t believe these builds are.
“Some of the blocks are ten storeys high. Imagine coming of of your back door and having to look at that. It really is a monstrous build for us.
“When we have relatives visit, they are shocked to see how bad it is.”
It is not just the horrendous view that residents have faced, but also loss of light and poor internet and tv reception.
Paul continued: “We have experienced loss of light, poor internet and tv reception. We are used to the level of noise and dust everywhere, we expected that. But we did not expect to have a building right at the back of our house like this.
“Our house prices have all dropped now. How are we supposed to sell a house with a view like this?
“The council have fobbed us off and repeatedly fail to answer any messages. The Leader, Councillor Morgon has been very helpful and has always answered our emails.
Councillor Ray Morgon Leader of Havering Council told the Havering Daily: “I have visited the site so fully understand how imposing these builds are.
“We are working with locals and if the poor reception continues after the removal of all the lorries, we will work with all our residents.”
Residents living on Bethany Close are now looking to take legal action.
