Three injured as drunk driver crashes into Romford subway- man arrested.
A 27 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol following a horrendous smash.
On the morning of Sunday, 15 January, police were called to a serious car accident in Romford. The incident occurred at 02:39hrs on Waterloo Road, where a vehicle had crashed over barriers and into a subway.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers were joined by the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade. The three men inside the car, including the driver and two passengers, were all taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. Thankfully, none of the injuries were deemed life-threatening.
However, the driver of the car, a 27-year-old man, was later arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. The incident is currently under investigation and further enquiries are being made.
Drunk driving is a serious crime that can have devastating consequences. Not only does it put the lives of the driver and their passengers at risk, but it also poses a danger to other individuals on the road. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the severe consequences that can result from driving under the influence of alcohol.
A spokesperson for the Met Police told the Havering Daily.
‘Police were called at 02:39hrs on Sunday, 15 January to a car which had crashed over barriers into a subway in Waterloo Road, Romford.
“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade.
“Three men, the driver of the car and two passengers, were taken to hospital where their injuries were assessed as not life-threatening.
“The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man, was later arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.”
Enquiries are ongoing.
