Christmas cheer for older patients at Romford Care Home.
Local home care company, Home Instead Romford, is delighted with the success of its ‘Be a Santa’ Christmas gift-giving campaign, receiving over 300 gifts from generous people in the area keen to support locals having a difficult time over Christmas.
The team at Home Instead Romford spread festive cheer and donated gifts to patients in the frailty ward at both King George Hospital and the Queen’s Hospital in Romford. The Christmas period can be particularly difficult for older people, especially if they are spending it in hospital on their own, away from their family and friends.
The Home Instead Romford ‘elves’ delivered presents to each patient, along with a card from the children at Harold Court Primary School who kindly handmade Christmas cards for all the patients.
The local community has shown immense generosity, donating gifts such as pamper sets, sweet treats, blankets, and activity books. The gifts were wrapped by the Home Instead team, who also delivered personalised Home Instead Romford stockings full of gifts for the fabulous medical teams on each of the wards.
The owner of Home Instead Romford, Kiran Agrawal, says: “We are so amazed by the generosity of the local people who donated to our ‘Be a Santa’ gift giving campaign. We would like to thank everyone throughout the community who has donated a gift and helped us to spread Christmas cheer.
“For many older adults, Christmas is a time that heightens feelings of loneliness which is why it was so important to our team at Home Instead Romford, to go out the hospitals and hand deliver the donated gifts to patients who may have felt isolated this Christmas.”
