Residents living on Wennington Road are pleading with the council to have cameras installed along their road following another dangerous collision yesterday (Thursday December 22). The collision saw one vehicle hit another and then crash into a house. A lady was subsequently taken to hospital with neck injuries.

A local resident living on Wennington Road who did not wish to be named, told the Havering Daily: “One of the vehicles was speeding, lost control, hit the other car and crashed into the house. We are lucky that the schools have finished otherwise there could have even been a fatality.

“What are we waiting for to have cameras installed along here? Deaths? Is that what it will take to have some important action taken?”

Before the horrendous fires this summer, another collision took place that saw a vehicle take out a lamppost and then crash into one of the cottages along the road.

Councillor Sue Ospreay ward councillor for the area was at the scene talking to local residents and told the Havering Daily: “We are lucky that the schools have finished otherwise we might have seen a mum walking down here with a buggy and baby and the consequences then would have been horrific.

“I have been requesting the installation of cameras for a long period of time. This accident is further proof of just how important it is to have these cameras installed along Wennington Road.”

A spokesperson for the Met Police told the Havering Daily:

“Police were called at about 14:55hrs on Thursday, 22 December to reports of a collision involving two cars on Wennington Road in Rainham.

Emergency services attended and found that one of the cars had subsequently collided with a house.

A woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road is closed to traffic.”
