On Saturday 17th December The Havering Daily visited The Habbit Factory’s pantomime “Jack and the Beanstalk”. The Habbit Factory is an Inclusive arts charity based in Havering who work with children and young people of all abilities. Every year they produce a pantomime with the lead cast being their staff and volunteers in order to raise funds for the charity, offer the lowest ticket cost possible and welcome new audiences to the magic of panto.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and can honestly say that at £10 a ticket we got, was a steal. This was a full-scale traditional pantomime with so much audience participation. There was plenty for everyone to get involved in and laugh at as well as adult cheekiness to keep parents and those older folk in the audience engaged!

The children and young people of The Habbit Factory did brilliantly. The lead cast, many of which are professionally trained, were outstanding leaving the audience wanting more. The Mayor of Havering also visited this amazing performance and told the Havering Daily: “I really wasn’t expecting the high quality performances that I saw.”

Dame Trott was played by Artistic Director Lee Giles who boasted seven different costume changes alongside laugh out comedy sketches throughout. The character Jack Trott was played by Matt Trayler who portrayed the character and story very well. Hannah Salmon choreographed the performance and played Jack’s love interest Jill, whilst Yasmin Can ate too many marshmallows playing Silly Billy. Every pantomime needs magic and that came in the form of Jessica Wallis (Fairy Sunflower) and Sean Wade (Poison Ivy). Finally, the Mayor was played by Kai O’callaghan who skipped his way through the performance in panto comedy style.

The Habbit Factory will be teaming up with the Myplace Centre and Havering changing next year as they bring yet another pantomime to Havering residents… Oh yes they will
