Councillor David Taylor launches Annual Performance Review.
Councillor David Taylor has asked residents and fellow Councillors to contribute to an Annual Performance Review, giving them the chance to feedback on what he has done well and what he needs to improve on.
The move is part of a wider programme of transparency and listening, by Councillor Taylor, to create stronger dialogue between residents and elected officials. Residents do not have to live in Councillor Taylor’s ward in order to leave feedback.
“It’s important to me that residents are heard whether they are disappointed or pleased with how their Councillors are doing.” Councillor Taylor said.
“Most employees have to complete and annual performance review, but us politicians only really face ‘review’ at the ballot box. I believe residents should be able to voice their opinion all year round, every year.”
Councillor Taylor’s public review allows residents to rate his performance out of 10 and to give feedback on what he is doing well and what needs to improve. Feedback can be left anonymously, and Councillor Taylor assures people that every comment is read.
Following a month of review, Councillor Taylor has committed to publishing an annual review in January.
“I have already identified areas in which I know I need to improve,” Councillor Taylor says. “I’ve not conducted enough in-person surgeries and will be focusing on that in 2023. I’m pleased with the work I’ve put in so far, but it’s for the residents to be the judge”.
