A teacher at Suttons Primary School wrote to parents asking them to donate toys to Queen’s Hospital this Christmas instead of buying her a gift. Year 5 teacher Miss Robinson wrote to parents asking them if they would consider donating one of their toys to the hospital this year instead.

Miss Robinson wrote: “I am so grateful for any present that I receive and truly hold them dear to me. I feel that I would like to help reduce the stress and pressure for you this year as we are all aware it is becoming more tough and spending any money on me is not something you should feel you have to worry.

“I would like to ask that rather than buying me a gift, if you would like, please could you let your child bring in a toy or a book that they no longer want. I will use these to teach the children how to wrap presents and they will then be donated to Queen’s Hospital for children that unfortunately have to spend some of their Christmas holiday in hospital.

“I hope the intention behind this is clear, this is about teaching children the spirit of giving, kindness and thinking of others during Christmas which is very tough on lots of people for different reasons this year.”

Well done to Miss Robinson and the children at Suttons Primary School for undertaking in this great community initiative that will help many children in the hospital as well as teaching her pupils the importance of giving especially over the festive period.
