Havering Full Council meeting started with an Islamic prayer for the first time.
All Full Council meetings held at the Town Hall in Romford are started with a prayer. At last week’s meeting for the first time it was started with an Islamic prayer.
The chairman of the Romford Mosque, Mr Kamal Siddiqui recited the Holy Quran on behalf of the Muslim community.
Mr Siddiqui explained that the Quran is word of Allah(God) and was revealed upon prophet Muhammad(PBUH) over the course of 23 years.
After the passing away of prophet Muhammad(PBUH), a committee was setup by the close companions of the prophet which compiled the Quran and published it in the current format which exists today through out the world.

Havering Councillors stand for the prayer.

The protest outside Havering town hall was fake and misleading done by outsiders who don’t live in Havering.
A very small population of muslims in Havering (approx 500 houses) and approximately 20 house in Collier Row and 10 house in Harold Hill, therefore we don’t need a mosque in every corner.
Romford Mosque & HICC accommodate large number of worshippers that is enough facilitiy available.
Muslims must respect islamic laws and Islamic values and not to create groups and divisions for personal gain and benefit.
Please respect wider community and don’t destroy peace and harmony.
Finally, we don’t need any more mosques in Havering
Kamal Siddiqui
I am sorry to read this. Full respect to Mr Siddiqui for his long services to the Muslim community in Romford
I myself attend prayers at his mosque especially on Eid. It is his house. There is no place for parking and prayers are conducted in his reception rooms.
I found his sermons vert bigoted. He is full of hatred to those who do not conform to his particular sect of Islam
This Eid he handed out hate pamphlets against fellow Muslims
He does not want to lose his monopoly over the congregation
Romford mosque is a 4-bedroom detached bungalow with large front car parking spaces. It is a private property converted and used as a mosque for the pleasure of Allah, as there was no Mosque in Havering. Your comments are completely false resulting in false propaganda, causing blame unnecessarily. There are 2 large reception rooms with a separate entrance hall which is used for ladies/girls only. There is a further large hall/space and another large room which is used for men only with a separate entrance. Furthermore, our sermon is in Arabic.
During your visit it was a Sunday and there was ample parking available on all roads nearby as well. There is no hate or monopoly at all as there are 5 organisations: Collier Row, Hornchurch, Harold Hill, Rainham, HICC and Romford Mosque.
We understand that personal circumstances, including mental health challenges, can impact how experiences are perceived, leading to your claims to promote division within the community. The mosque strictly follows Shariah law and the sunnah and the aim is to unite Muslims. We are saddened by any suggestions of division or hate and reaffirm that our principles are rooted in the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and a sincere effort to unite Muslims in faith and community spirit.
