1000 more new trees planted in Havering
On Saturday 3rd of December, Trees for Havering hosted its second tree planting event of the season at the Hornchurch Country Park COVID Memorial. The tree planting campaign returned after last weeks success where over 1000 new trees were planted.
The event saw a variety of groups from across Havering and even other boroughs, come together to support the campaign, including the Shah Satnam ji Green Welfare Force from Redbridge.
Volunteers, young and old, were able to plant at least another 1000 new trees, bringing our season total to over 2000 trees planted. The aim of the campaign is to plant as many trees as possible across the borough and make it not only greener but also to improve the quality of air.
This season the council have provided Trees for Havering with a number of large locations to create new woodland so it is important as many people get involved and help to plant trees.
There will be many events scheduled over the next 5 months so please attend as many events as you can.
Event organiser Ross Elliott told the Havering Daily,
“Thank you to everyone who attended the event. It is great to see the community come together to plant trees and Adam and I really appreciate their support.’
‘I would also like to thank The Woodland Trust and The Conservation Volunteers for donating the trees.”
The next event will be this coming Saturday at the same location. Please get involved in future events if you can.
Saturday 10th December 9am to 12pm – Hornchurch Country Park Tree Planting Event No.3
