London crime has grown exponentially. We need, as a matter of urgency, the intervention of the Home Secretary to help make our borough a safer place to live.’

Andrew Rosindell M.P. has written to the Home Secretary calling for action, following Romford’s designation as the ‘car theft capital’ of Britain.

In his letter, he has asked The Rt Hon. Suella Braverman M.P. to force the Mayor of London to allocate more police to Havering to improve safety of the people of Romford, and the whole borough.  The M.P. does not believe that Havering is getting the Police cover we need, compared to other boroughs.

According to research undertaken by insurance comparison site, Money Supermarket, Romford has topped the list for vehicle theft.

The research undertaken by Money Supermarket has indicated that, out of 1,000 insurance enquiries made by motorists in Romford, 19.87 of them were car thefts.

After Romford on this list, was Ilford in second, Bromley third and Birmingham fourth.

Speaking this week, commenting on the issue, Andrew Rosindell M.P. said:

“Romford has been starved by the Mayor of London, and the people of my constituency believe he has no credibility when it comes to making our borough a safer place to live. Why should my constituents have to suffer, in real terms, under the administration of someone they neither voted for, nor believe in. Looking across London, crime has grown exponentially. We need, as a matter of urgency, the intervention of the Home Secretary to help make our borough a safer place to live”.
