Yesterday, Thursday 27 October saw the British Legion launch their Poppy Appeal at the Mercury Mall in Romford. Members of the Royal Navy, Standard Flag Bearers, were joined by our local police officers and Havering VIP’s for the official launch of the appeal in the borough.

Havering’s Deputy Mayor Councillor Stephanie Nunn and Consort Councillor Barry Mugglestone officially launched the start of the appeal alongside the leader of the council, Councillor Ray Morgon, Romford MP Andrew Rosindell, Romford Town Centre B Team Officers, Dave Ainsworth and Mercury Manager Spencer Hawken.

The Poppy Appeal is the Royal British Legion’s biggest fundraising campaign held every year, it allows us to pay tribute to all those who have served and sacrificed during the Remembrance period of November.

Thank you to Spencer and Natalie from the Mercury for hosting this event annually.
