VIDEO: New Police and Council safety hub launches in Romford to support the community.
A new community based safety hub was officially opened on Friday October 14 in Romford town centre. The hub based next to Romford station, will allow locals to chat with police officers and council representatives, as well as have a place to go to if they feel unsafe in the area.
The safety hub is owned by Network Rail and has been furnished thanks to Tesco, to support the community, with a particular emphasis on supporting the safety of women and girls who visit the town centre.
Friday saw Amy Lame, who was appointed the Night Czar from the Mayor’s office in 2016 attend alongside Superintendent Lisa Butterfield from Havering police, Havering’s Leader of the Council Councillor Ray Morgon, Deputy Mayor Councillor Stephanie and Consort Councillor Barry Mugglestone, Havering’s Chief Executive Andrew Blake Herbert, Havering Council Enforcement Officer Jane Eastaff and members of Network Rail.
The hub will give police officers and councillor officers the opportunity to have a base in Romford town centre to work from and meet local residents.
