Thames Chase October Apple Weekend.
Thames Chase are delighted to welcome the local community to our longstanding Apple Weekend taking place 22nd – 23rd October 2022.
With lots of demonstrations, tastings, talks and activities, we are looking forward to celebrating our historic farm buildings at this wonderful autumnal festival.
A selection of locally grown English apples to taste and purchase, fruit juices, honey, produce and preserves will be available to purchase celebrating the local produce available. Country crafts such as
willow weaving, spinning and woodcrafts will be demonstrated and displayed. There will be activities for all the family to enjoy too, children’s crafts, face painting and a trail around the site.
The origins of Apple Day stem from 1990 and was launched by Common Ground the aspiration was to create a calendar custom, an autumn holiday. Apple Day was intended to be both a celebration and a demonstration of the variety we are in danger of losing, not simply in apples, but in the richness and diversity of landscape, ecology and culture too. It has also played a part in raising awareness in the provenance and traceability of food.
The success of Apple Day has shown what the apple means to us and how much we need local celebrations in which, year after year, everyone can be involved. We do hope you can join us at Thames Chase to celebrate all things Apple during this weekend.
