A man has been charged after a 12-year-old boy was stabbed in Newham on Tuesday on Brook’s Road.

Okan Boran, 35 (09.07.87), of Hackney, was charged on Thursday, 1 September, with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and threatening a person with a blade/sharply pointed article in a public place.

He appeared in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Thursday, 1 September.

A second man, aged in his 60s, was bailed until a date in late September pending further enquiries.

Police were called at 20:17hrs on Tuesday, 30 August to Brook’s Road, E13, following reports of a stabbing. A 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital for treatment; his injuries are not life-threatening.

Two men were arrested at the scene.
