Detectives investigating the stabbing of a teenager in Barking are appealing for witnesses and information.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a stabbing in Barking of a 17 year old male.

Police received multiple calls at around 15:00hrs on Friday 26 August to reports of a male stabbed outside a block of flats in Harts Lane, Barking.

Officers attended along with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service and a 17-year-old victim was treated at the scene for stab wounds to his shoulder and chest. He was taken to an east London hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

A crime scene remains in place at the location while officers carry out various inquiries, including the recovery of CCTV.

At this stage it is believed that following the stabbing, three male suspects left the scene in a blue Hyundai. All wore dark clothing.

Officers are keeping an open mind with regards any motive.

Detective Sergeant Dave Parish, East Area Command, said: “My officers are working hard to identify those responsible for this attack which took place in broad daylight and could easily have proved fatal.

“Thankfully the victim is recovering in hospital and as we continue to establish the full circumstances I would appeal to anyone with information which could assist the investigation to come forward.”

Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD 4540/26AUG22.
