Anger at lazy residents who throw litter on the floor.
Calls for fines to be issued for those who drop litter across the borough.
This summer has seen the borough blighted by litter across our streets and parks. Dirty residents who chuck their rubbish on the floor or have picnics in parks and walk away leaving their litter on the floor are being called out by locals who rightly want to keep their area clean and tidy.
People are fed up of seeing their street strewn with rubbish, left over cans, or chip packets, take away containers and such items are leaving a trail of dirt all across the borough. Havering Council are providing street cleaners across town centres and other areas but the emphasis is now on residents to play a part in keeping their borough tidy.
Sarah from South Hornchurch has been following the Havering Daily live feeds that have focused on litter, she said: “I am fed up of looking at litter across our streets because of lazy people who cannot be bothered to use bins and drop their rubbish on the floor.
“We all want a nice area to live in and should all be keeping it tidy by bringing our rubbish home with us or putting it in bins.
“People are just lazy and throw their rubbish on the floor. I have seen for myself parents who have picnics in parks and walk away leaving their rubbish on the floor. What example is this for their children? They will grow up doing the same. This is not acceptable.”

The shocking litter above is from the park on Ford Lane in South Hornchurch. Piles of bottles left there from youths playing football.
Teaching children that leaving litter is not acceptable is vital in keeping our streets clean.
Havering Council will be embarking on another litter campaign soon that we will highlight in the hope that people get the message:
KEEP OUR STREETS CLEAN. DO NOT DROP LITTER.
