It’s time to level up transport in Havering.
Deputy Chair of Romford Young Conservatives Ben Suter today writes in the Havering Daily.
I believe levelling up should be the number one priority for this Government as we emerge from the awful pandemic which has damaged lives and businesses all over the country. The idea of levelling up is mainly focused on areas in the North of the country which have been neglected by previous governments for far too long.
But I think that transport across the country is a major part in truly levelling up communities and even here in Havering there are a number of areas which do not receive full service; for example, Havering-atte-Bower which doesn’t have a regular bus service and none at all on a Sunday. Also, there isn’t a bus service that goes from the north to the south of the Borough. You have to go through either Romford, Hornchurch or Dagenham to get to areas like Rainham.
I believe this is a failure by TFL, which for many years hasn’t made a big enough effort to deliver better services for the people of Havering. I call on the Mayor of London to use more of the money he receives from Havering residents, in Havering. This money can be used to deliver the much-deserved transport links this borough needs. We canonly truly level up if the required transport links are there, both across the country and Havering.

Any Conservative party member or supporter – young or otherwise – should take a good long look at their self and their Party’s history before totally blaming TfL for this failure. To a large extent, Britain is in the position where ‘levelling up’ is required due to many years of self serving Tory governments where the rich get richer and the poor don’t really matter.
TfL and other public transport infrastructure across the country should be nationalised and not run for profit, but that’s just not the Tory way – more like sell off everything and make more money – that’s at the core of Tory values.
Hello T Cusror,
This is not the Tory way. It seems as if you forget that there was a Labour Govt. only twelve years ago which were in office for 13 years. It was actually the Conservatives who come up with the idea of Levelling Up our country. Labour take advantage of working people and their votes. People now realize the mess that Labour are in.
