Residents living on Berwick Pond Close are not only fed up with visitors attending parties parking across their garages and driveways, but now the granting of a planning application that will see 2 two storey houses and a bungalow squeezed in a very small area.

Angry locals of Berwick Pond Close told the Havering Daily:

“The residents of Berwick Pond Close and neighbouring roads have had to once again call the police over the late night revellings of the residents at no 15. Not only is there total disregard for the neighbour’s peace and quiet, but they also double park, blocking neighbouring drives and making access for emergency services in this very small quite close an impossibility
“This will all be exacerbated now that the planning department in their wisdom have granted permission for this three bedroom bungalow to be knocked down and be replaced by 2 two storey houses and the opposite garages be replaced by a 2 bedroom bungalow.
“This plot of land has no direct connection to the sewage system instead it is pumped from Berwick Pond Close 45 metres around a bend and with very little incline into a property in Berwick Road. This invariably blocks with the cost and placed upon the Berwick Road residents.
“These new properties when finished will consist of 6 bedrooms and several bathrooms, each 2 bedroom house has plans for an upstairs bathroom and toilet, an ensuite and a downstairs toilet. More toilets than bedrooms, this is ringing alarm bells for residents fearing they will be H.M.O.’s. They will certainly cause the now inadequate pumped sewage system to block more but these are not material planning considerations and are not taken into account.
“These new properties will overlook several other houses but they will have obscure glass in their windows so that’s okay. They will also overshadow properties in Abbey Wood Lane but again it’s okay to have a brick wall for a view and lose 80% of natural light because a computer generated overshadowing document worked out that on march 21st they would receive 2 hours of daylight!
“It’s also okay for the tiny close to deal with all the extra traffic and parking because again that’s not a material planning objection nor is the devaluing of your home, lack of privacy and affect to your mental well being.
“Every single resident in the area along with the 3 ward Councillors objected venomously against this but to no avail. It would seem it is now almost impossible to object to any new development especially a back garden overdevelopment due to the ever increasing need to house the rest of London.
“It is now time to change your planning objections in favour of lifelong residents and protect those that already live in the Borough from fat cat developers and over development.”
