New Windmill Hall looking for new committee members to run the venue.

Since 2013 Simon’s parents have been running the New Windmill Hall in Upminster. Simon’s father is the treasurer and his mum is the chairperson in charge of the lettings. However, now that they are in their 70s and 80s the Upminster couple would like to hand the reigns over to someone interested in looking after the hall-but sadly no one has come forward.

Simon told the Havering Daily:

“The New Windmill Hall is a great community space that is used for many events such as weddings. It is a shame to see it not being used and perhaps losing it to another block of flats.

“My parents would like to retire after running it since 2013 but despite people showing interest, no one has actually come forward.

“My parents are frustrated and sad as it is a great venue for our community and if no one comes forward we fear that we could lose it all together.”

Simon’s parents have agreed to stay on until April next year and hope that someone will come forward to take on this much loved venue in Upminster.

Deputy Leader of the Council Councillor Gillian Ford told the Havering Daily:

“We will share the appeal out in our Bulletin magazine to help Simon’s parents find a replacement.

“There are no plans at this stage to develop the building into a block of flats.”
