Community urged not to light fireworks or use BBQ’s to celebrate Pakistan Independence Day.

Residents across Havering and East London are being urged to please not light fireworks or use disposable barbecues to celebrate Pakistan Independence Day on Sunday August 14.

With the current extremely dry conditions and the strain on our firefighters following repeated grass fires across the capital particularly here in Havering, local leaders are urging our Pakistani community to not undertake in celebrations that involve fires, fireworks or barbecues.

Chief Inspector Brian Doamekpor from East Area police said: “Households are being urged not to light fires and retailers to ban sales of disposable barbecues as the country faces another heatwave in already tinder dry conditions. We urge you NOT to use fireworks to celebrate Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day.”
