Councillor Matthew Stanton from the Beam Park ward today writes in the Havering Daily:

I have written to TfL and the London Borough of Havering with regards to the series of accidents at the junction of Marsh Way and the A1306 (New Road).
This has been an ongoing problem for some time, despite several different organisations and people raising the issue.
I have been informed previously that the issue is the fault of the motorists assuming that they have priority when they do not, and while this may be the case, it is surely not beyond TfL and Havering to change the phasing of the lights, or the layout of the junction.
While I am aware that the Beam Park Station debacle has brought about delays to the planned ‘Beam Parkway’ project, on the grounds of safety for our residents and other users, and to reduce the toll on our emergency services, I am asking TfL and Havering to urgently collaborate on any measure to make this junction safer. While we wait for the transformation of the A1306 into a ‘Linear Park’ the least we can hope for is a commitment to safer travel.
