Dagenham fire was devastating-anyone who denies climate change come here and look. Jon Cruddas MP.

The Dagenham and Rainham MP has been at both the Wennington fire scene and Dagenham fire scene to see the devastation left first hand.

Today he told the Havering Daily:

“The fire at Farm Close off Ballards Road Dagenham was devastating. 14 houses destroyed and 14 families’ lives have been torn apart with personal possessions and cars lost.I visited the scene on Wednesday and was horrified.

“My office and I are working closely with the Council to ensure help and support is given to the families. I pay tribute to the professionalism and bravery of the firefighters who tried to tackle the fire in temperatures of 40C.

“I am so grateful for the way businesses such as Asda Dagenham and the store at Whalebone Lane and B&Q at Roneo Corner and so many local people have stepped forward to help the families who have suffered such loss and trauma.

“We have to learn from these devastating fires that have wrought havoc across the constituency of Dagenham and Rainham this week and I want to say to anyone who denies climate change, come here and look. We have to urgently put in place measures to arrest climate change.”
