‘We must open our eyes to climate change and stop being guided by these out of touch, corrupt people who unfortunately hold the power to make decisions on our behalf.’
Extreme weather conditions have engulfed all of the country yesterday and today with temperatures hitting the high 30s and possibly even 40c.
A Tory MP has claimed that for all of us taking precautions during this heatwave- well we are nothing but a bunch of ‘snowflakes’ and ‘cowards’.
MP Sir John Hayes who was a government minister at the climate change department, has been quoted as saying that people who fear this extreme heat, is everything that is wrong with Britain today.
Climate change is often denied and laughed at, yet here we are with temperatures hitting incredibly high records never been seen before in the UK and surely even the biggest sceptics can see that there is a change in our climate that is undeniable.
Former Head of Romford Labour Angelina Leatherbarrow told the Havering Daily:
“Whether you believe in Climate Change or not, there is one thing that is undeniable. Thanks to decades of under investment by successive Tory governments our countries infrastructure is not able to cope with extreme weather. Our schools are not adequately air conditioned so have to close early causing havoc for working parents, our hospitals are already on their knees so dealing with heat related emergencies is harder, leading to more excess deaths and our public transport networks collapse at the mere mention of sun, rain or snow.
“We are experiencing extreme weather that was not predicted to affect us for another 30 years. Climate change is happening faster than expected and will only make life more challenging if we don’t address it. MP’s need to take it seriously instead of politicking around the issue because they are enamoured or in hock to fossil fuel billionaires and prefer to brand those of us calling it out as “woke” or “Snowflakes” because that is easier than addressing the need for investment better public infrastructure and green energies.”
Havering Climate Change founder and activist Ruth Kettle-Frisby told the Havering Daily:
“What Hayes claims sounds emotionally driven and is simply not true; the ‘snowflake’ narrative he’s peddling is dangerously false and irresponsible.
“Hayes’ assertion about ‘cowardice’ entails the prescription that turning our backs on global climate injustice is not only acceptable, but in some warped sense morally courageous.
“He’s essentially gaslighting those of us who care about our planet and each other. People in positions of power with public platforms have the responsibility to inform themselves about facts, and not to legitimise false, populist rhetoric.
“There is an appetite for head-burying in the hot sand when it comes to climate change, but denying climate change doesn’t change the fact that climate breakdown is accelerating.
“People and countries invested in neoliberalism have a vested interest in denying the climate crisis. This is because fossil fuels are big business and also because many of us in the Global North have become accustomed to comfortable lifestyles that exploit our neighbours on the front line of climate breakdown in the Global South.
Havering’s Extinction Rebellion told the Havering Daily:
“Unfortunately, this is the thinking that has bought us to this point in time. We are undoubtedly in a climate and biodiversity emergency that has been ignored since the 70s by people more concerned with money, greed and power: a perfect example is this man himself who has been a government minister in the climate change department but also gets paid £50k a year (for about 11 days work) by BB Energy, there’s no prizes for guessing why he would like to delay action on the climate emergency:
“Regardless of whether you enjoy the heat or not, this has so many more implications – our climate is changing dramatically and we need to stop the actions which are causing this to happen, to prevent it worsening. No. 1 on that list is to stop investing in and burning fossil fuels.
“This is only a snippet of what we will face in the future and what other countries are facing on larger scales already. We have droughts all over the world currently, rivers and lakes are drying up and people are dying. We must open our eyes to this and stop being guided by these out of touch, corrupt people who unfortunately hold the power to make decisions on our behalf.”

Everything I hear a story from a climate activist about the world melting down I feel annoyed with cringe and frustration. If they want to fix the planet then why don’t they invent something to save the planet and advanced the cities to a green metropolitan paradise. Because they are more interested in shouting about the problem and they haven’t got a clue about engineering or energy production. And when they try to call for change they just want a collective control of the living and order them to get back to using horse and carts even though there aren’t enough horses around.
I once had an argument with someone about the green energy development strategies of Shell who have built a hydrogen fuel cell station on the M25 for the cars that use hydrogen fuel cells. If they want people to give up petrol cars then they should be promoting the sales of petrol cars themselves. I promote green innovations in my blogging but they don’t share those stories because to them fear sells better than hope. They are pathetic.
