Three Romford councillors have joined forces in a bid to clear up the graffiti that is blighting the area along the River Rom from Roneo Corner all the way into Romford itself.

Conservative Councillors Nisha Patel, Judith Holt and Tim Ryan have united forces to work with developers, local residents and the council to clear the area of the eye sore graffiti that blights the whole area and make the river Rom an attraction as it once used to be.

Councillor Ryan from the Brooklands ward has recently walked along the Rom path and looked at the unsightly graffiti that blights the whole area. Whilst Councillor Patel from St Edwards ward and Councillor Holt from the St Albans ward are keen to redevelop the area and make the river Rom a highlight of Rom.

Councillor Patel is also keen to work with locals to have parts of the walk way for artists to use the area to draw murals rather than graffiti.

To be fair, it’s been a Graffiti spot since 1983. Due to its location nobody uses that space except graffiti artists. It attracts artists from all around the UK. Make it legal site, just like others around like Stockwell ect. They are all work within the community no problem at all. It’s not like Romford has many attractions does it? But trust me, ROM river and the skatepark was the only reason any youth would go there. Take it from a kid from the 80’s. Places like this are disappearing too easily. Work with the kids that frequent here and not the money men that want the land for more flats. We know the story! That same old gentrification story we are tired of. Use this space for the future of the kids.
