A local resident and Conservative member James Devo has hit out at the Hornchurch Residents Association following the delivery of their leaflet calling on residents to use their ‘two votes’ for Hylands ward, when it is a three ward seat.
On election night, Hylands ward turned from a three seat Conservative ward to a two seat Hornchurch Residents Association and one seat Conservative.
James Devo told the Havering Daily:”The pamphlet distributed by the Hornchurch Residents Association a day before the local elections, was completely misleading. It is not very moral what they have done and really is not right.
“Voters were told to pick two when this is a three seat ward.”
During election night the results for Hylands ward that was predicted to be a safe seat for the Tories, came as a shock when they lost two seats to the Hornchurch Residents Association. A ‘block check’ recount was under taken with the results coming out the same.
It is believed an official complaint has now been made.
Mr Devo continued: “It is not that case that I am bitter over the results, but what the pamphlet said was very misleading to the public and not morally right.”
