The Havering Daily is running a list of the different candidates across Havering in preparation for tomorrow’s local elections.

Today we meet Mohammed Abdullah Siddiq Ibnay, the Labour candidate for Rainham and Wennington.

I have lived in Rainham Village for six years and am passionate about improving the local area and supporting the community. I work as a Tutor, Assessor and Internal Quality Assurer and have a keen interest in education policy. It is important to me that young people across Rainham and Wennington have a fair start in life.

Since moving to Rainham in 2016 I have become involved with local community and faith based groups, and support food banks in the area. I also have plans to start a food bank in the coming years. As a Labour campaigner I am always working to improve the quality of life for local people and as a resident I feel Rainham and Wennington is often forgotten by Havering Council.

I want our community to have a seat at the table; we have been poorly represented for too long. Over the years residents in Rainham and Wennington have faced many challenges such as diminishing GP and health services, severe flooding, loss of green space, HGVs blighting both villages, threats of overdevelopment, and road safety issues. Through all of these challenges the silence from existing Independent councillors has been deafening. Without proper representation the Tories in the Town Hall have been able to neglect our area unopposed. I’m looking forward to welcoming our neighbours and making sure that as a community we get the service we deserve from the council, from housing associations, and landlords. This area, like the rest of the country, needs us to speak with one voice to improve the lives of ordinary people. That’s why I’m proud to stand as a candidate for the Labour Party.
