The Havering Daily s running a list of the different candidates across Havering in preparation for the local elections on May 5.

Today we meet John Curtis, the Labour candidate for Rush Green and Crowlands ward in Romford.

I grew up in East London but have lived in the Romford area for twenty five years now. I currently work for the ambulance service, based at Queens Hospital, which is a role I find very rewarding. I had previously worked as a London Taxi Driver, and before that I worked for twenty six years in the telecommunications industry, where I was responsible for Customer Service and Satisfaction of over five thousand small and medium sized businesses in the Southeast of England. I am passionate about providing great service and improving the lives of people in our community. If elected, I will draw on my experience to ensure the community I represent get the service they expect, and are entitled to, from Havering Council.

In my spare time I work as a volunteer for CRISIS. I have worked with homeless charities for over thirty years. I am passionate about ending homelessness and I look forward to the day when people can benefit from their right to a decent home, along with a local infrastructure that meets the needs of everyone.

If elected I will always be available to serve the people of Rush Green and Crowlands. I will hold regular face to face surgeries as well as being contactable via email and telephone.

All I ask is for the opportunity to serve.
