The Havering Daily is running a list of the different candidates across Havering in preparation for the local elections on May 5.

Today we meet Mandy Anderson, Labour and Co-operative candidate for Heaton ward in Harold Hill.

I have lived in Harold Hill for 27 years, the past 18 of them in Heaton. I aim to bring much needed improvements to the area through realistic policies and tireless action.

The Harold Hill Community Hub Focus Group, the ‘Harold Hill Wombles’ and neighbourhood community support groups are examples of my local activities. I am a Governor of two Harold Hill schools and taught at Hilldene Primary. I currently work supporting children and young people with inclusion issues. I have wide experience working closely with Police, Housing, Education, Health and Social Care Services.

As a local resident and working with families in the community, I am keenly aware of the challenges we all face. The cost of living crisis, housing issues, the appalling state of our roads and pavements, anti-social behaviour, crime and safety are top priorities. I will be a visible and approachable presence with a loud, clear voice on behalf of residents at the Town Hall.

I am excited at the prospect of bringing real change with fellow Labour and Co-operative colleagues. The neglect suffered at the hands of the inept Tory administration supported by so-called ‘Independent’ Councillors must end now. Harold Hill can no longer be the ‘forgotten town’ in Havering.
