Andy Mann – H.R.A Candidate for Marshalls & Rise Park
The Havering Daily is running a list of the different candidates across Havering in preparation for the local elections on May 5.
Today we have Andy Mann, an H.R.A Candidate for Marshalls & Rise Park.
I am no stranger to Havering Council. I have previously been a Councillor, first elected in 2002 and then again as a Residents Association Councillor in Collier Row from 2006 to 2010. Now after a break of 12 years, I am back.
I was spurred on by the way this current Conservative Administration has been treating the people of this Borough. The lack of empathy for its residents and the constant overdevelopment of Romford is destroying our Town centre, it has already started to creep out further afield.
I spent 8 years in the Council and always put residents first. The current Conservative Councillors seem to think it is a rite of passage that they are there. It should be an honour and privilege to represent residents in the Town Hall and that must change for this election.
I have lived in Romford and Rise Park for over 50 years. I am well known for my community work; being a Governor at Bower Park School for 20 years and am currently the Chair of Governors. I have also spent 8 years at several primary schools as a Governor. I feel providing good quality education for our children is of paramount importance.
I have also been involved with the Scout Association in Romford for over 30 years. I have spent 6 years as the District Commissioner for Romford Scouts, which oversaw 300 adult leaders and supporters looking after over 1000 young people aged 6 to 18. I am currently still volunteering as a Scout Leader.
