VIDEO:Special tree memorial in honour of pensioner who tragically lost her life in a house fire.

Members of the Harold Wood community gathered outside of Harold Wood library yesterday, 21 of March to plant a special tree in honour of pensioner Josie Smith who was tragically killed as result of a house fire last November.

The event was organised by local community champion Monica Puncheon who has been in regular contact with Mrs Smith’s children and organised a candle lit vigil for the pensioner last year. Many members of the community came to watch the tree planting and were pleased to see the Silver Birch tree planted in Josie’s honour as a permanent reminded of a lady who lived all her life in Harold Wood.

Mrs Smith’s children attended the special tree memorial alongside the three Harold Wood Councillors Brian Eagling, Martin Goode and Darren Wise. Mrs Smith’s son thanked the crowd for their kind gesture and was pleased to have a tree planted as a lasting memory to his mum in the centre of Harold Wood.
