Community invited to tree planting memorial in memory of pensioner Josie.
On Monday 21 of March a special community tree planting memorial event will take place outside of Harold Wood library. A tree will be planted in honour of pensioner Mrs Josie Smith who tragically died in a house fire in Harold Wood last November.
The event is being organised by community hero Monica Puncheon who also organised a special vigil outside of Harold Wood library in memory of Josie last year.
Mrs Smith’s sons and daughters will be at the tree planting event, alongside local councillors Brian Eagling, Darren Wise and Martin Goode.
The event is scheduled to start at 11 am and all of the local community are invited to come and pay tribute to the pensioner who had lived most of her life in Harold Wood.
Monica told the Havering Daily:
“This is the community’s way of honouring a special lady who had lived all her life here. Everyone is welcome to come and participate in the event. Many thanks to Brian Eagling for his help in getting permission from the council and obtaining contractors to plant the tree.”
Monica also has five free standing bird houses made from recycled wood that have been donated from local charity New Life Wood, that cost £350 that will be given to Josie’s family.
Well done to community hero Monica Puncheon for organising this event and working hard to get so many people on board.
