The Chigwell Group who provide a lot of support in the Havering community are sending aid to the Ukraine to help the thousands who have been impacted by the war. Today, the team share with the Havering Daily news on their donations.

Like so many of us, everyone at the Chigwell Group has been deeply touch by the plight of the Ukrainian people since the invasion by Russia.

Chigwell Group’s Chairman Dean Floyd told the Havering Daily: “I was approached by Capital Flower’s owner Jaymey Mclvor to see if we could help him with a trip he was planning to one of the areas where evacuees were amassing. He wanted to deliver urgent medical supplies and toiletries that his customers had collected and desperately needed a vehicle to transport the goods. I was delighted to be in a position to donate one of our fleet to him for the journey as well as helping cover insurance, petrol and ferry costs and his accommodation in Europe.”

As well as the medical supplies and toiletries Jaymey’s customers have also been donating sleeping bags and new clothes across all Ongar High Street shops.

His staff have worked tirelessly on top of their already busy work load to organise the donations and sort them.

Jaymey says. “As the coordinator of this ‘Essex aid to Ukraine’ I felt I owed it to my generous customers to make sure their donations got to the right place as soon as possible. I was learning from speaking to Ukrainians in London that the donation hubs there had been overwhelmed and struggling to get into Eastern Europe in a timely fashion”.

Jaymey continued: “I approached the Chigwell Group as I know they are an incredibly generous business and I needed help getting the donations to the Ukraine border in Poland. I was overwhelmed by their amazing attitude without which I wouldn’t have been able to make this trip”.

The Journey is expected to take more than 16 hours and Jaymey will be driving alongside his friend Mark who has good knowledge of that part of Europe and also shares his passion for helping those fleeing the conflict.

Jaymey and Mark will be leaving from Chigwell Groups headquarters this Friday11th March at approximately 3.00pm and returning early on Monday14 March.
