EXCLUSIVE: Horror hygiene at Central Park Leisure Centre revealed.
Former cleaner tells of how bins left over flowing for a week, swimming pool water used to clean the floor and fish living in changing room drains.
A Havering resident who worked as a cleaner at Central Park Leisure Centre in Harold Hill has spoken exclusively to the Havering Daily about the shocking hygiene conditions at the centre.
The lady who did not wish to be named, told the Havering Daily:
“I worked at the Leisure centre for a while and was horrified to see what went on. Since I began working there I stopped using the centre. It really is appalling.
“Cleaners come in every night for three hours but other duties are left up to the centre staff and there is often a debate over who does what. For example I saw bins left for a week not emptied that contained dirty nappies and other such products. The changing room floors were always dirty. In the drains under neath the top cover lived small silver fish that would frequently make their way out on the changing room floor.
“I witnessed staff using old dirty buckets take water from the swimming pool and use it to clean the floor. Ceiling tiles are missing, there is mould on the walls. The water fountain is rusted all over the drinking part and the water provided comes from an old bucket.
“The sauna is dirty, cleaners are told to only clean the door. I only ever saw the pool get one deep clean in the five months I worked there. It really is awful.
“It really is a health and safety issued and should be looked at carefully,” finished the former cleaner.
