The Mardyke Community centre in south Hornchurch held its Christmas light switch on Friday 3 December to provide a festive spirit for all the locals.

The evening saw a special guest appearance from Buddy the Elf from the Brookside theatre, alongside father Christmas himself and a choir from Newtons Primary school who sang Christmas carols.

Event organiser Ross Elliott told the Havering Daily: “I am so pleased with how great the evening was. It was amazing to see the community come together to celebrate this magical Christmas moment. I would just like to say thank you to everyone who came to the event, our sponsors (Tesco, Rainham Steel and Costcutter), Newtons Primary School Choir, Buddy the Elf and Santa Claus from the Brookside Theatres ‘Elf the Musical‘, and Lesley and all the centre staff.”
