A hundred and fifty people were evacuated yesterday from a warehouse on Bampton Road in Harold Hill following a chemical spill.

The incident happened just before 9 am on Tuesday November 2 at a single storey warehouse and the area was cleared by firefighters just after midday.

A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade told the Havering Daily:

“Firefighters were called a chemical incident at a single storey warehouse on Bampton Road in Harold Hill.

The mixture of chemical waste is believed to have caused a spillage onto the lab floor. Around 150 people left the building before the Brigade arrived. A woman was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Fire crews carried out a sweep of the building and found no elevated readings.

The Brigade was called at 08:36 and the incident was over by 12:14.”
