BREAKING: Man arrested for attempted robbery of a bank and possession of a hammer
A man has been arrested after attempting to rob a bank armed with a hammer in South Street, Romford this morning.
The incident happened just after 11 am and the the bank was temporary closed whilst police dealt with the incident.
A Met police spokesperson told the havering Daily:
“Police were called to a bank in South Street, Romford, shortly after 11.00hrs on Wednesday, 6 October to reports of an attempted robbery.
Officers attended. A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a hammer.
here were no reported injuries.
“He has been taken into custody.”
