Yesterday The Havering Daily revealed how the Home Office has written to Havering Council informing them that Palms Hotel on the A127 in Hornchurch will now be used to house asylum seekers.
Havering’s Leader of the Council Councillor Damian White, has written to the Home Secretary Priti Patel MP to inform her of the unsuitability of the venue.
Today, the Romford MP Andrew Rosindell has issued the following statement.
“I echo the Leader of the Council’s words in his letter to the Home Secretary.
The Palms Hotel site in Hornchurch is completely unsuitable for asylum seekers, many of whom will be extremely vulnerable individuals with complex needs.
As the Leader of the Council notes, there is a very poor range of amenities in the area and Havering Council is already stretched to its limit given the demographics in the borough.
This will be bad for the people of Havering, but it will also be bad for the asylum seekers who the Government is supposed to be protecting.
I was glad the Government put a halt to a similar decision last year and I urge the Government to once again put an end to this proposal.”
