Not one, but two defibrillators for Elm Park.

Today, Councillor Stephanie Nunn writes in the Havering Daily:

When we launched our appeal several months ago for a defibrillator in Elm Park, we had no idea we would end up with not one, but two defibrillators.

We are overwhelmed by the generosity of those who donated money for a defibrillator to be placed in the Royal British Legion. We are also absolutely delighted to share the news that Keith Di Palma, Chairman of Tigers Junior Football Club has most generously donated a second defibrillator from the club, which will be housed in Elm Park Station.
When he got in touch to offer us the defibrillator we could not believe it. We thought we would struggle, but we achieved more than double what we set out for.

Keith said :“When I saw the appeal launched by Councillors Barry Mugglestone and Stephanie Nunn to raise money for a defibrillator I thought it was a wonderful community spirited idea. I got in touch and they explained that donations were already coming in and any money over was pledged to renovate the little train area.

“The little train next to Elm Park Station and the planted area is maintained by these two councillors for the benefit of residents. We agreed that it would be ideal to go for two defibrillators.”

Previously we had hit a brick wall with TfL when trying to make enquiries about donating a defibrillator to Elm Park Station, that is why the RBL was chosen to receive it. However, when we realised we had two, we contacted Jon Cruddas, our local MP who got the wheels rolling for us and TfL got in touch, so many thanks to him.

We would like to thank everyone who has donated to this cause, Tigers JFC, residents and Havering Council. We would like to give a special mention to one resident in particular who very kindly made an anonymous donation of £1,000 in memory of his late wife.

Councillors Barry Mugglestone and Stephanie Nunn with Keith Di Palma and his grandson Alfie McSweeney.
