Reports of knife-wielding fight outside Gidea Park station
On lookers were shocked to see a fight that smashed up a shop outside of Gidea Park station this evening. Police attended and a man was chased and arrested for affray.
A witness at the scene told The Havering Daily: “I was in the shop opposite the station, when all of a sudden a guy runs into the shop followed by a few others. They started to attack him and in the process the shop was ransacked. I managed to get out and I moved towards the station but the fight moved outside too. A couple of them had Japanese style blades. It was really scary”
A Met police spokesperson said, “Police were called at 18:17hrs on Saturday, 3 July following reports of a fight in the vicinity of Gidea Park Station.
“Met officers attended with colleagues from the British Transport Police. As officers arrived, a number of people ran from the scene.
“One man was located nearby following a short pursuit.
“He was arrested on suspicion of affray and taken into police custody.”
