Thank you to the Hornchurch Beavers, Cubs and Scouts who joined the Havering Daily #PickAStreet campaign and went out litter picking across the borough on Wednesday evening.
The team of youngsters went out armed with their litter picks to collect rubbish across our borough as part of their weekly activities.
Group Scout Leader Dean Jeffreys told the Havering Daily: “We go out every Wednesday, the different groups all meet from between 5-9pm. We do lots of fun activities such as climbing, canoeing, archery, team games and even night hikes.
“We meet at the Methodist church in Hornchurch and from there go out and embark in our different ventures. We have 70 young people and 20 adults and our numbers are growing as we have a waiting list to join the Cubs. I think with the current pandemic situation people really appreciate the outdoors even more.”
The youngsters collected bags of litter and were eager to help keep the Havering streets litter free.
Mr Jeffreys finished: “It was nice for the children to see how important litter picking is and to give something back to the community. It also teaches them the importance of not dropping litter and keeping our borough tidy.”
